FSU football has a ton of recruiting momentum in Tallahassee over several recruiting classes. The reaction to the Midnight Madness event has been crazy.

The staff has recruits across several different (2022, 2023, and 2024) on campus in an official capacity for the first time in over a year.

Recruits could visit campus over the past year but couldn’t have face-to-face contact with the coaching staff or see everything as they normally would.

However, that changed on June 1st at midnight when Mike Norvell opened the doors to the Moore Center and welcomed several recruits.

The recruiting energy around the program hasn’t been this great since the 2018 spring game with Willie Taggart.

The coaching staff pulled out all the stops with several high-profile recruits like Kevin Coleman, Jaleel Skinner, Julian Armella, and Cain Madden.

The great thing is Coleman, Skinner, and Armella are on unofficial visits and can use their official visits later this year.

Thoughts

The coaching staff did a great job of capitalizing on the first opportunity to get recruits and commits on campus.

The crazy thing is the number of high-profile players they got on campus. It says a lot about the planning and execution that went into pulling this off. I mean, we’re talking about getting players and family members on campus at midnight and being up into the late morning hours.

That says a lot about the commitment on both sides, the coaching staff, and the prospective players. Who knows if any of these players will commit while they are on campus.

It’s possible, but if not, I wouldn’t look at this as a failed experiment. I look at it as a way to continue building those relationships. Heck, this was the first time the coaching staff had met five-star commit Sam McCall in person. It’s a great sign regarding where things are heading with the program.

June will be a big month for recruiting, and this is only the first day. If these recruiting events continue to have great execution, the results will come soon enough.
