FSU football coaches getting back to FSU roots in 2023.

FSU football coaches are working to put the final touches on their 2021 recruiting class. They have 20 players with about six spots remaining to fill.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been an obstacle for the staff to overcome, but it has also allowed them to get a headstart on future classes.

The downtime has given them ample time to begin evaluating for future classes. They’ve sent out 261 offers for the 2022 recruiting cycle.

I know some people man feel like 2023 is a long way away, but in the recruiting world, it’s never too early to form those relationships.

The coaching staff understands that and has already sent out 89 offers according to Noles247. One of the knocks on Mike Norvell and his staff is their lack of ties to the state of Florida, and the pandemic slowed the process of developing those relationships.

However, looking at the 2023 offers, the coaching staff has concentrated in historically hot spots for FSU football.

Of those 89 offers, the staff has offered 35 players from Florida and 19 from Georgia. That’s 59 percent so far.

Final Thoughts

This news is good to see as only 40.6 percent of the 2022 offers are to players in those two states. I understand it, the coaches had to lean on their existing relationships to recruit quality students while they worked to develop their relationships in-state and in Georgia.

These two states alone accounted for 38 percent of the five-star players in the nation for the 2021 recruiting class. These two states also accounted for 21.8 percent (47 of 325) of all four-star recruits in 2021.

That’s why it makes sense for them to put so much effort into these two areas. The university is just a few road hours from some of the powerhouse programs in Georgia, and FSU has a history of getting players from all over Florida.

If they can begin to tap into the talent in these two areas, they should have no problem increasing the talent roster talent.
