FSU football is looking to address its QB needs in the 2022 recruiting class.

Mike Norvell signed two quarterbacks as soon as he became FSU football head coach in December 2019.

Norvell had a blue-chip quarterback committed in Luke Altmyer, but quickly adjusted once that relationship was not going to come to fruition.

He usually takes a quarterback every recruiting cycle, and the 2022 recruiting class will be no different as transfer McKenzie Milton will likely only be at FSU for one year.

With the ‘Noles football season over and players gone for the holidays, it looks like the coaching staff is hard at work in the recruiting phase.

They landed transfer DE Jermaine Johnson from the transfer portal and sent out a trio of 2022 QB offers Saturday.

Braden Davis is considered the No. 152 player overall and No. 7 dual-threat quarterback. He hails from Lake Minneola High School, also where former FSU offensive lineman Chad Mavety is the offensive line coach. His father played offensive line at Tennessee.

Cade Klubnik is considered the No. 155 player overall and No. 6 pro-style quarterback. He hails from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.

Tanner Bailey is considered the No. 210 player overall and No. 8 pro-style quarterback. He hails from Gordo High School in Gordo, Alabama.

Thoughts

All of these players are among the best in the 2022 recruiting class, and the Noles are thought to be the leader for four-star QB Nicco Marchiol, who’s considered the No. 220 player overall and No. 9 pro-style quarterback.

Marchiol hails from Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. Arizona is the home state of Chubba Purdy, who signed with FSU and Mike Norvell in the 2020 class.

Normally, I’d say the Noles were late with the offers, but I think they’ve been talking to these guys for quite some time.

I like they offered a quarterback from in-state as we saw how trying to land a quarterback from out of state has worked with Sam Howell and Altmyer.

It’ll be interesting to see how these recruitments shake out, but I know they’d like to get a quarterback committed to team up with Travis Hunter Jr. to help build that class.
