FSU football lost its best wide receiver for the season on Wednesday.

FSU football wide receiver Tamorrion Terry was a three-star wide receiver discovered by Jimbo Fisher and staff late in the 2017 recruiting cycle.

Terry and high school teammate Ontaria Wilson hail from a small rural area of Ashburn, Georgia. It’s one of the reasons Terry was only ranked as the No. 350 player nationally, and the No. 52 wide receiver in the country.

He redshirted his freshman season as wide receivers were rarely productive in Jimbo Fisher offenses. However, he burst on the scene in 2018 with 35 receptions for 744 yards and eight touchdowns. A lot of times the offense consisted of throw it to Terry deep and hope something good happens.

It did several times, including a game-winning touchdown against Boston College.

Terry improved on that production the following year although teams were more aware of what he brought to the table. He produced 60 receptions for 1,188 yards and nine touchdowns.

He was looking to become the first FSU wide receiver since Rashad Greene to produce back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons.

However, Terry entered the 2020 season with a heavy heart and battling injuries. He lost his grandmother just before the season opener against Georgia Tech and never looked like himself although he had a great game against Notre Dame earlier this year.

Even then, he didn’t look fully healthy, and the time has come where he has to make a business decision. Terry issued the following statement on this Twitter account Wednesday afternoon:

Thoughts

It makes a lot of sense as it wouldn’t do Terry any good to try and play the rest of the season. He could sit the rest of the season out and enter the NFL Draft.

He could enter the transfer portal and go to a team that’s not in a full-on rebuild to attempt to raise his NFL Draft stock. After all, that’s one reason he decided to come back to FSU football in 2020.

Whatever he decides, it was admirable he came back and tried to play after having a procedure on his knee a couple of weeks ago. I wish him the best and appreciated him being one of the bright spots on the field for the Noles the past couple of years.
