FSU football running back Anthony Grant is no longer listed on the roster. I discuss the impact of him no longer being with the program.

Noles247 reported FSU football running back Anthony Grant is no longer on the roster. Grant was a late flip from Tennessee and was a 2018 three-star signee in Willie Taggart’s first recruiting class.

However, Grant’s time in Tallahassee has had its share of ups and downs. He appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman, playing primarily on special teams before red-shirting in 2019.

There seem to be some off the field issues with Grant as there were times last year when it didn’t appear he was part of the program.

However, he appeared to be with the team during the spring as he was listed on the roster.

What’s The Impact Of Grant Being Gone?

  • Roster Spots Opens Up
  • He wasn’t expected to be a huge contributor

Those are the two main things to remember. FSU was at or near its 85 scholarship limit, so the Grant no longer holding a spot could allow the Noles to take another player to its roster.

The coaching staff did a great job of bringing in running backs with the loss of Cam Akers to the NFL. Jashaun Corbin and La’Damien Webb transferred in, and true freshman Lawrance Toafili has joined the fold along with former five-star Khalan Laborn.

Mike Norvell likes to run the ball, so depth at the position is key, but that’s a lot of bodies to compete with for a player like Grant, who only has five career rushes.

I think the Noles will be fine as they have some other talented walk-on running backs that proved they were serviceable in the bowl game at the end of last season.

Good luck to Anthony Grant, and hopefully, he’ll land somewhere he can be productive and get his college degree.
