Senior FSU defensive tackle Marvin Wilson made a lot of fans happy when he decided to come back for his senior season.

Marvin Wilson’s decision to return for his senior season surprised a lot of people as he was already receiving drafts grades to be selected in the first or second round of THIS year’s draft.

He was dominant as a junior in most games, despite playing entirely too many snaps for a 300+ pound defensive lineman.

Wilson only appeared in nine games but finished the season with 44 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 4 passes broken up, and two QB hurries.

With several defensive tackles taken, Wilson has emerged as the top defensive tackle in most NFL Draft mocks to date.

Well, that was until Todd McShay decided to rock the boat and declare Wilson’s ceiling as late-Day-2 on Twitter Wednesday night:

I’m sure Marvin Wilson felt he had things to prove by returning to FSU as he wasn’t able to finish last season because of injury. However, there’s nothing more motivating than someone telling you you’re not as good as most people think you are, right?

That seems to be what Marvin Wilson is saying in his reply to McShay. Players are always looking to gain an edge and proving someone who some consider an “expert” as wrong would be gratifying, for sure.

I’m not sure what video McShay was watching, but Wilson is a force in the trenches. After all, he led the team with five sacks last season in just nine games. That’s not taking into account teams game planning around him.

I was already thinking Wilson was going to have a monster senior season in Adam Fuller’s defense. I expect the defensive line to be more attacking and less read and reacting. That should allow Wilson to be unleashed, proving he’s the best defensive tackle in the nation.
