FSU football head coach decided not to retain former FSU tight end coach Telly Lockette. The former coach will be hired by Miami as an analyst.
FSU football head coach Mike Norvell has shown great ability in putting together his coaching staff’s at Memphis and FSU.
He had a decision to retain or let go FSU tight end’s coach Telly Lockette when putting is staff together and decided to do the latter.
A lot of FSU fans were disappointed with the news as Lockette has strong recruiting ties in south Florida where he used to be head coach at Miami Central High School.
Some thought Lockette would follow Willie Taggart to FAU, but he will now be hired by the rival Miami Hurricanes as an offensive analyst.

Thoughts
I’m not surprised to see Lockette get snatched up by Miami, but I’m surprised he was willing to take an off the field coaching role there. It’s not known if he had the option to so do with FSU football, but he has lived in Miami and has roots there.
While he does have strong recruiting ties to the area, it didn’t do FSU much good with their performances on the field and Miami has been just as bad lately.
Lockette is largely credited with bringing in four-star offensive lineman Dontae Lucas and a few other prospects from South Florida.
However, the Noles were never able to make an impact with any truly elite players from that area while Lockette was on staff.
It’s a solid hire for MIami, but he won’t be able to fully contribute as a recruiter since he will not be a coach on the field.
