FSU basketball got back on the winning side of things with a big road win against Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon. Fans react to the win.

No. 5 FSU basketball (18-3, 8-2 ACC) took a 74-63 road win over the Virginia Tech Hokies (14-8, 5-6 ACC) Saturday afternoon.

It was a much-needed win after Virginia snapped their 10 game winning streak earlier in the week.

The Noles were led by Devin Vassell’s 25 point career high. He was 8 of 10 overall and 7 for 7 from beyond the arc with three rebounds and two assists.

FSU played much better on both sides of the ball as they shot 49 percent from the floor overall. They were blazing from beyond the arc at 45 percent while making 8 of 11 foul shots.

Virginia Tech shot 44 percent overall, but were just 7 of 30 from beyond the arc while making all six of their free throws.

FSU only turned the ball over nine times while committing just nine fouls the entire game. Check out the fan reaction to the big win.

Thoughts

This was a great bounce back win for the Noles. I mentioned the loss to Virginia was likely a wake up call as the Noles were winning several close games while not playing particularly well against lesser teams.

I thought they played much smarter by attacking the basket and not settling for so many jump shots. Devin Vassell continues to show he’s one of the best players in the nation. It should also be noted the Noles played without M.J. Walker too.

FSU basketball will have a quick turnaround game against UNC Tuesday night who could have Cole Anthony returning from his injury after missing several games.
