FSU basketball looks to get back on the winning side of things as they travel to Virginia Tech. However, their Bracketology projections took a hit after the Virginia loss.

No. 5 FSU basketball (17-3, 7-2 ACC) will head back to the state of Virginia for the second time this week in ACC play.

They’ll be taking on Virginia Tech (14-7, 5-5 ACC) in hopes of getting back on track after their 10 game winning streak ended against Virginia Tuesday night.

The Noles were not playing well in thew few games before that one and that loss looked like one everyone saw coming.

The Noles have now dropped to a No. 3 seed in the latest Bracketology projections by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

That would still be tied for the highest seed the Noles have ever had in the NCAA Tournament. They have an important stretch of games coming up that will help determine where they ultimately finish.

The Hokies have lost three of their last four and the Noles should be favored to win although it’s a road game. A UNC team that’s won back-to-back games and a Miami team that probably should have beaten FSU the first time is after that.

FSU needs to win all of these games, but the Duke game after that will be a must-win if they expect to keep pace with Louisville who’s in first place. The good thing is FSU has a win over Louisville and will get to play them again during the regular season.

They can’t afford another loss if they expect to have a shot at winning the ACC regular season. If they’re able to do that it would almost guarantee them a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
