FSU football: Fans react to TJ Rushing leaving for Texas A&M
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coach Mike Norvell has a reputation having to replace coaches. It looks like he’ll have to replace a recent hire before coaching a game at FSU.
It looks like FSU football will be back in the market for another defensive backs coach according to recent reports.
Coach TJ Rushing appears to be heading to Texas A&M to coach under former FSU football coach Jimbo Fisher.
Rushing was announced as FSU’s defensive back’s coach on December 28th after coaching in Memphis’s Cotton Bowl game against Penn State.
Rushing previously coached Arizona State before being hired by Mike Norvell to coach at Memphis last season.
For some reason, Rushing was probably the hire most FSU football fans disliked most although Memphis had a good pass defense under him last season.

Thoughts
I know why a lot of FSU football fans were not fans of TJ Rushing, but it’s nothing I care to get into at the moment. Mike Norvell felt he was good enough to allow him to follow him from Memphis and that was good enough for me.
Now that Jimbo Fisher has pegged him as someone he’d like to hire it does speak to Mike Norvell’s eye for talent. It should also be noted that FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller comes from the Mike Elko coaching tree. Elko is the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M and Rushing coached defensive backs under Fuller last year at Memphis.
Those FSU fans begging for Terrell Buckley to come back to FSU shouldn’t hold their breath as he just signed to coach at Ole Miss with Lane Kiffin.
Although, it would be an ultimate flex to bring him to Tallahassee much the same way Rushing just left to go to A&M huh?
It’ll be interesting to see who Norvell tabs to replace Rushing. We gave the Rushing hire a “B” when we graded the staff hires.
