FSU football got an early Christmas present Wednesday with redshirt sophomore Cory Durden indicating he’d be coming back in 2020.
All indications point to FSU football having more experience returning on its defensive line than once thought.
FSU redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Cory Durden sent a tweet to FSU football head coach Mike Norvell simply saying “let’s work” Wednesday evening.
Norvell replied within a few minutes and the short exchange seems to imply Durden will return for his redshirt junior season in 2020.
The defensive line was one of the biggest question marks going into the 2020 season. Standout defensive tackle Marvin Wilson will likely declare for the NFL Draft and there’s not a lot of experienced depth behind Wilson, Durden and sophomore Robert Cooper.
The expected return of Cory Durden should be a nice boost to the FSU defense.
Work is all I know @king_durden35 #FiredUp for the #NoleFamily and excited to be on this journey with you! #KeepCLIMBing https://t.co/67TRGL0f7D

Thoughts
As you can tell it’s not lost on FSU football fans how important it is to see a player like Durden decide to come back. It’s possible he would have gotten drafted this year as he played well at spurts during the season.
However, there’s a great shot for him to improve his draft stock with a strong junior season.
Durden increased his total tackle total from 22 to 36 and doubled his sack total from two to 4.5.
He plays with great passion at times but the biggest thing is just becoming a consistent force from down to down. What will be interesting is seeing how he’ll perform in Adam Fuller’s defensive scheme that’s said to be more aggressive in how they attack.
Junior defensive end Janarius Robinson indicated he’ll return for his senior season a couple of weeks ago.
If Joshua Kaindoh can get healthy from his season ending injury and decide to come back the Noles could be in business along the defensive line in 2020.
