FSU football has done a solid job of positioning itself for some good wide receivers in the 2020 class. However, one huge target committed to Miami Sunday.

FSU football has one four-star wide receiver target committed for the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Malachi Wideman choose the Noles nearly two months ago and is the highest rated commit in the class at No. 138.

The Noles need three or four wide receivers this cycle after not taking a skill position commit in 2019. That’s mainly because they loaded up in the 2018 recruiting cycle.

The Noles were thought to be heavily in the mix for four-star wide receiver Michael Redding III from IMG Academy. However, he pulled the trigger to commit to the rival Miami Hurricanes Sunday evening.

He’s the No. 131 ranked player in the nation and is the teammate of FSU commits Alex Atcavage and Josh Griffis.

FSU offered him in late February and was able to get him on campus in March and a few weeks ago. However, Miami offered him in over a year ago and was able to get him on campus multiple times.

It’s a blow to the Noles no doubt, but essentially it looks like FSU and Miami traded players if Bryan Robinson commits to FSU. Robinson is a former Miami commit who has named the Noles his leader with Ron Dugans in Tallahassee recently.

He’s the No. 97 ranked player nationally and would be a huge get for the Noles should he pull the trigger.

I think getting Wideman, Robinson and Redding would have been a dream case scenario. The Noles still have a couple of solid options to fill their receiver slots and other players could emerge as the recruiting process unfolds.

The good news is FSU already has their No. 1 QB target Jeff Sims committed and he’s on the recruiting trails hard while performing well at the Elite 11 competition.

Rest easy FSU football fans, the Noles are still in good shape as long as Robinson comes to the good guys.
