FSU baseball shocked plenty of people by making it to Omaha in the first place, but they again are heading home without a title in the final season for 11.

For the 17th time in his career as head coach of the FSU baseball team, Mike Martin led his Seminoles to Omaha and a spot as one of the final eight teams taking part in the annual event known as the College World Series – a spot not many people thought the Noles could get to at points earlier in the year.

For the 17th time in his career as head coach for the Seminoles, Martin will be bringing them back to Tallahassee without a national title after the Noles were eliminated from the event on Wednesday night with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Texas Tech.

For the first part of the game, it seemed as if another pitcher’s duel would break out before the Red Raiders got on the board to start things off. The FSU baseball team would tie the game at one in the fourth inning when Robby Martin scored on an error and fans thought that there was a chance for at least one more game in the career of No. 11

That would be as close as the Seminoles would get as Texas Tech would score one run in the sixth inning – chasing starter Conor Grady – and two runs in the eighth inning that would be more than enough to send them on to the group of final four teams left in Omaha and fans of the Noles one last chance to cheer for the man who has led the team for four decades.

After the game, Martin expressed his gratitude for the chance to get to manage at his alma mater – a chance that led to him winning over 2,000 games for FSU baseball and spent nearly half of his seasons with the Seminoles ending their season in the mecca of college baseball known as Omaha.

The Seminoles have not announced yet who will be taking over for the 2020 season, but one thing is for certain – it won’t be the same without the man wearing No. 11 leading the Noles from this point on.
