FSU baseball took a much-needed win over Arkansas in their College World Series opening game. The reactions have been terrific after a hard-fought win.

FSU baseball used a clutch pitching performance, some nice defensive play and a little luck to pull out a 1-0 victory over No. 5 seed Arkansas Saturday night.

FSU starting pitcher Drew Parrish was outstanding after giving up some hard hit balls for outs in the first couple of innings.

Both teams has some opportunities to score but both pitchers buckled down with some big time strikeouts in those situations. The Arkansas pitcher got a lot of help from the umpire behind the plate in a number of instances where he called balls in the other batter’s box strikes.

However, the FSU hitters worked second round draft pick Isaiah Campbell enough that he was chased from the game after throwing 101 pitches through seven innings.

Drew Parrish threw 113 pitches through eight innings before giving away to closer J.C. Flowers who pitches at 1-2-3 ninth.

It was pitcher’s duel most didn’t see coming as both teams can swing the bats. However, it was the Noles capitalizing on some Arkansas mistakes to get the winning run across in the top of the ninth.

It’s funny how baseball and superstitions go hand-in-hand right? I thought of the tweet up there about the socks and then how I stayed in the exact same spot on my sofa during the game.

Guess what? I’ll be there Monday too when the Noles take on Michigan Monday at 7 p.m. ET. I can’t express how big this win was for the Noles.

It was their first time winning game one since 1999 and only continues to fuel their belief it is destiny for Mike Martin to go out with a College World Series title.

They have been doing things as a team that we hadn’t seen all year and it’s all because they are a confident group now that’s tasted success. Let’s hope that continues against the Wolverines who defeated Texas Tech in the opening game of the College World Series.

They’ll have a great shot with CJ Van Eyk on the mound as he’s been electric in his last few outings.
