Former FSU football quarterback Deondre Francois apparently has a new home since being dismissed from the program a couple of months ago.
Former FSU football quarterback Deondre Francois will apparently be walking on to play football this fall at Florida Atlantic University according to reports.
Francois was dismissed from FSU earlier this year after a video surfaced that brought to light a possible domestic incident.
It wasn’t the first incident he had experienced off the field and his performance on the field in 2018 left a lot to be desired.
However, everyone deserves an opportunity to get back on track and that’s apparently what FAU head coach Lane Kiffin is providing.
Francois is expected to compete for the starting job among other players currently on the roster.
It has always seemingly been a love/hate relationship with FSU football fans and Francois. A certain segment felt he was the next coming of Jameis Winston, while other seemed to understand what he was as a player.
A decent college quarterback with some tools but he wasn’t as great as he thought he was.
It was interesting to see the fan reaction when the news broke on social media.

I really wish Frenchy all the best and can hope he can turn things around.

Side note: anyone else also feel like he played longer and have to re-read/re-think that he actually still has 2 years of eligibility left?https://t.co/rCQbB5wBF3

I’m glad Deondre Francois found a place to play football again...With De’Andre Johnson transferring to Texas Southern and Chris Robison being investigated for Sexual battery it looks like the job is his

Perfect landing spot - poor leader coaching and poor leader at QB

Let’s hope Deondre Francois’ line at FAU is a little bit better than it was at FSU pic.twitter.com/4tcLmptmS5

Thoughts
Those of you that follow my writing know I felt James Blackman should have been the starter before the season began last year.
I’m not sure it would have made a huge difference in the season, but at least I know the team would have had a better leader.
It probably would have meant FSU would have had one scholarship QB on the roster too as I wouldn’t fathom Francois staying to be the backup QB.
Francois’s dismissal was the best thing for both parties. He gets an opportunity for a fresh start and the Noles get the same thing.
Francois has obvious talent and it will be interesting to see how he performs should he win the starting job under an offensive minded coach like Kiffin.
I wish Francois the best of luck and hope he can get his life together. If he wins the job FAU will play Ohio State and UCF in their first two games in 2019.
