FSU football is staying busy on the recruiting trails evaluating new targets and touching base with others.

FSU football has done a great job of recruiting thus far considering the season they had in 2018. They already have some important spots in its 2020 class nearly complete.

The Noles currently have the No. 6 recruiting class in the nation with key commitments at quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker, offensive line and defensive backs.

However, there’s still a huge need along the offensive line as the Noles are in need for quality offensive tackles.

Monday the Noles extended an offer to a blue chip in-state offensive lineman in Connor McLaughlin.

Connor McLaughlin is the No. 247 ranked player nationally, the No. 25 offensive tackle and the No. 37 ranked player in the state of Florida.

Here are some quick highlights:

Connor McLaughlin’s recruiting profile has blown up this spring and the majority of his offers have seemed to come in the last few months.

FSU will be competing against the likes of USC, Duke, Miami, Boston College, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and some Ivy league schools.

With offers from mostly private institutions you can bet academics will be a priority in his recruitment.

Thoughts

Offensive line continues to be one of the most important needs in the 2020 recruiting cycle. It’s good to see the Noles targeting in-state talent, especially right in the Tampa area.

McLaughlin already has a good frame at 6’6″ 260 pounds, but will need a year or two in a college strength and conditioning program to add bulk to his frame before he’ll be an effective contributor like most offensive linemen coming out of high school.

The Noles will likely need about four more offensive linemen in this 2020 recruiting cycle. McLaughlin would be a solid get from an in-state talent.
