FSU baseball and forty win seasons go together like peanut butter and jelly. FSU still has a lot of work to do to make it happen.

FSU baseball (31-17, 16-11 ACC) split its doubleheader with Jacksonville Tuesday and will take on Stetson Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Noles still have a shot to win 40 games for the millionth year (sarcasm) in a row but have made it harder than it had to be.

They’ve lost some games this year they had no business losing and are nine wins away from 40 with seven regular season games remaining.

They’ll have at least two games in the ACC Championships that begin on May 21st and as of right now still projected in the field of 64 for postseason play.

It’s the Stetson game and three games against the Richmond Spiders followed by the three game conference finale against the first place Louisville Cardinals.

The key for the Noles to reach 40 wins will be making the postseason. They could win  the remaining seven games and still be two games short of reaching the milestone.

Then they’d need to win two games in the ACC Championships. Let’s be real for a moment. I would give this FSU baseball team like 5 percent chance of winning their next nine games with how they’ve played defense and been sporadic with their offense parts of the year.

Although they did get hot around this time last season and won seven of their last eight games against similar opposition.

How To Get To 40 Wins

They definitely can’t afford to lose any games against the likes of Stetson or Richmond. That’s four of the nine wins and they have to take at least two of three from Louisville.

That would put them three wins shy of 40 going into the ACC championships. If they won two games there they’d just need to win more game in the field of 64 to reach the 40 win milestone and keep the streak alive.
