FSU football continues its white-hot momentum on the recruiting trails with its 12 commitment in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

FSU football had landed a commitment from four-star wide receiver Malachi Wideman. He’s the first offensive skill player commit for 2020 aside from QB Jeff Sims.

Wideman is the No. 173 ranked player nationally, No. 32 ranked wide receiver  and the No. 29 ranked player in the state of Florida.

His mom visited the campus before he did as he was tied with up with a basketball tournament. However, he was able to visit during FSU’s spring game and reportedly loved his time on campus.

Wideman who’s also a blue chip basketball player is expected to play both sports in college.

He’s not a man of many words on social media but did offer this tweet to verify his commitment.

It was just his 101st tweet ever:

Fan Reaction

Wideman’s got some work to do on and off the field but I can certainly see him similar to Tamorrion Terry on the outside as a large receiver.

He’s 6’4 and 180 pounds as a junior and can absolutely jump out of the gym.

Similar to Terry, I could see him as the vertical threat to take the top off of a defense as well.

His basketball dunks are on social media more than he is.

Thoughts

The Noles now have 11 of their 12 commits from the Sunshine State and have surpassed the Florida Gators for the No. 5 ranked recruiting class.

Ironically, Wideman committed to FSU  two years to the day from when the Florida Gators offered him a scholarship.

FSU now has a recruiting class that consists of 67 percent blue chip players. Wide receiver was one of its most pressing needs and the Noles will likely take about three more at that position

The Noles need to continue to address wide receiver, running back, defensive and offensive line for its most immediate needs.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see FSU’s next commitment come at running back now that Demarkcus Bowman has committed to Clemson.

FSU football has now landed five commits since April 19th.
