FSU football already has a great quarterback in its 2020 recruiting class and is in the mix for another talented signal caller.

FSU football has been on quite a roll on the 2020 recruiting cycle with three commitments in the last week.

The Noles have struggled to reel in quarterbacks in recent recruiting cycles, but they’ve already secured a commitment from a talented player in Jeff Sims.

Sims is one of the most vocal FSU commitments on social media and has helped the staff assemble the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation with 10 commitments.

However, the Noles need to take two quarterbacks this recruiting cycle after misses in the last two. Blue chip signal caller Malik Hornsby placed the Noles in his top eight list:

Profile

Malik Hornsby hails from Missouri City, Texas, and is considered the No. 116 player and the No. 4 dual-threat QB in the nation.

He holds offers from a ton of major programs like FSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas, Auburn and others.

FSU offensive coordinator Kendal Briles is his primary recruiter as he has strong ties in the state of Texas after working previously at Baylor and Houston.

Thoughts

Hornsby hasn’t been on campus since Willie Taggart became head coach according to 247Sports. He’s only taken one official visit and that was to North Carolina recently which at least says he has some interest outside of his home state of Texas.

The key will be to get him on campus sometime this summer if he’s seriously entertaining the Noles. How will he feel with Jeff Sims already committed to the Noles?

We’ll have to see if the Noles can get him on campus. Texas A&M currently leads the 247 crystal ball predictions with 67 percent of the votes. A haul of Sims and Hornsby would be a ridiculous combination for the Noles.
