Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2019 season.

Just when it appears that the FSU baseball team couldn’t be doing any worse after losing nine of their last 14 games entering this past weekend’s series, the Seminoles collectively looked at the world and the fan base of the Seminoles as if to say “Just wait and see how much worse it can get after this weekend.”

What followed was a stretch that included not being able to score a run for over 20 innings and having to salvage some late inning heroics in order to avoid being swept by one of their two hated rivals for the first time in the history of the nearly 70 seasons the programs have been playing each other.

Now, FSU baseball heads back to the diamond for their final regular season meeting against the other hated rival desperate to avoid being swept by them for a fourth straight regular season. Here’s our preview of this week’s games between the Seminoles and their foe during this week of action.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

After losing four of their previous five games, the FSU baseball team headed down to Coral Gables for the final regular season series against the Miami Hurricanes in the 40 season career of head coach Mike Martin – and the Seminoles made sure to make it memorable for all the wrong reasons at first.

Friday night, the ‘Canes got on the board first with a grand slam in the fifth inning and added six more runs two innings later in coasting to an 11-0 victory – and decided to follow that up on Saturday as the Seminoles were shut out for the third time in four games with Miami getting a 4-0 win to take the series.

Sunday afternoon, the Noles were saved by former UM player Nico Baldor as he brought home two runs thanks to an error from Miami shortstop Freddy Zamora as J.C. Flowers – who homered earlier in the game – pitched two innings to get the save and help Florida State avoid the sweep with a 6-5 victory.

Opponent Preview

For the third time this season, the Seminoles and Florida Gators will meet on the diamond as the Noles hope to avoid being swept yet again as they have lost 15 of their last 16 games against the orange and blue.

At 21-13 on the season, Florida won five games in a row before being swept last weekend at the hands of Ole Miss. The previous winning streak started after beating the Seminoles in Jacksonville back on Match 26th, while the Gators have limped to a 4-8 record in SEC play this season.

Interesting Fact

For all the talk about FSU baseball hoping to avoid a fourth straight season sweep to the Gators, another streak could be extended as Florida looks to win their fourth straight game in Tallahassee – something that has never happened before in the history of the series.

The only time before that the Gators have won three straight games in the state capital came from the 2012 to 2014 seasons, when Florida won each of the single games played inside Dick Howser Stadium before the Seminoles took a 4-3 victory thanks to a walk off homer in the 12th inning.
