FSU football has done a great job of holding on to its top unsigned commits for 2019. Will they hold on to Nick Cross?

FSU football has four unsigned commits for the 2019 recruiting class. Two of them have effectively shut down their recruitment in four-star defensive backs Travis Jay and Brendan Gant.

Four-star defensive end commit Quashon Fuller visited FSU football last weekend with is mom and was the second time he’s been on campus in as many months.

He’s still planning to visit Alabama this weekend, and released a top three but he’s at least been on campus with his mom recently.

That leaves four-star safety commit Nick Cross who has been committed to the Noles since September 3rd, 2018. He’s their highest rated unsigned commit and one of the class’s most vocal recruiters on social media.

However, unlike Jay and Gant who shut their recruitment down, Cross had released a top four schools list (with the Noles along with Maryland, Georgia and Penn State) before deleting the list and still planning to visit Penn State this coming weekend.

Thoughts

Most of you that follow recruiting by now know the back story with Cross. It goes all the way back to this past summer when he visited FSU football.

He’s always loved the Noles and has put in a ton of work to help recruit players to become apart of Tribe19.

In fact, he was still doing it hours before releasing his top four schools. Check out his tweet regarding FSU target Alante Brown:

He also tweeted this when Jalen Ramsey spoke about recruits attending FSU at the Pro Bowl this past weekend:

Listen, Cross is an elite recruit and he’s a player FSU football definitely needs in this class as the safety position was a liability last season. Part of me wants to believe Cross not shutting down his recruitment is him simply enjoying the process as a top recruit.

Some folk believe this is similar to the Sam Howell situation but that’s not 100 percent accurate. Howell was never actively a recruiter on social media like Cross has been and Cross has called FSU his dream school in the past unlike Howell.

Another part of me does remember folk around him prefer other schools to FSU football for whatever reason. It’s going to be interesting to see how it shakes out.

As of right now all of the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions still point to 100 percent FSU. This recruitment is going to let us know just how elite of a closer Willie Taggart is.
