FSU football has positioned itself to close strong on the recruiting trail for 2019. The question is who will they land in the next two weeks.

FSU football has done a solid job of holding together most its recruiting class despite a terrible season on the field.

They’re coming down the home stretch with National Signing Day in a couple of weeks and still have several positions of need to fill in the 2019 class.

The good news is FSU has most of those remaining targets to fill those needs on campus at this very moment which is half the battle. The remaining targets have dates set between this weekend and National Signing Day.

The question is will Willie Taggart and staff be able to close the deal?

We’ve noted several times how Taggart is great at creating recruiting momentum. He opts for commitments in bunches instead of ones here and there. The huge recruiting weekends in the past bode well for those on campus this weekend.

All you have to do is look at what happened in December 2018 prior to the Early Signing Period, last spring game weekend and the big recruiting weekend in December 2017

There are several players from the 2019 class already signed and/or enrolled on campus helping to close on the remaining targets as they understand how important it is to close strong.

FSU will take up to two quarterbacks, likely three or four offensive linemen, at least one more linebacker, possibly a running back and defensive tackle.

That would definitely secure a top 15 recruiting class with all of its needs met with spring ball right around the corner. I wouldn’t worry about what the class’s final recruiting ranking will be as long as they hit most of the numbers at those positions above.

I’m not sure we’ll see commitments this weekend because players may want that special attention on National Signing Day.

If I were a betting man, and I am at times, I’d be willing to bet FSU football will close on most of its remaining targets at QB, OL and linebacker. Any other position after that is a luxury at this point with a quality player the staff really likes.
