Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.

In a period of one week, the FSU basketball team went from a season that had plenty of hope and promise to one that now has plenty of people worried that the Seminoles are going to be in some trouble come tournament time if they keep playing this way.

Yes, I know there are still 13 games left for the Noles on the season – but when you lose back to back games against two teams that either have the same record as you or were winless before they beat head coach Leonard Hamilton’s team, you can’t blame fans of the garnet and gold for starting to freak out.

Now, FSU basketball starts a three game slate over the next two weeks against teams they are either around or behind them in the standings – knowing full well that anything less than a winning record over that span will increase that worry meter even higher.

Here’s our recap of last week’s game action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

Coming off a heartbreaking loss just days before to top ranked Duke, FSU basketball started the week on the road at the Pittsburgh Panthers – and for much of the game, it looked liked the Seminoles left their talent back in Tallahassee as the Noles trailed by two.

It didn’t get much better in the second half as the Seminoles shot under 24 percent from the field – including less than eight percent from the three point line – and walked out with a 75-62 loss. Trent Forrest was the only Seminole in double figures as he scored 19 on the night.

On Sunday, the Noles were up in Massachusetts for a showdown with the Boston College Eagles – and watched as their 14-point lead in the first half and 10-point margin at the half evaporated in the second half thanks to a 25-6 run from the Eagles as they never looked back for the 87-82 win. Mfiondu Kabengele led all Seminoles with 26 points on the day.

Opponent Preview

On Tuesday, FSU basketball will return home for a showdown with the Clemson Tigers inside the Tucker Center. At 11-6 on the year, Clemson broke their three game losing streak last Wednesday when they beat Georgia Tech at home for their first ACC victory of the season.

Sunday, the Seminoles will head down to South Florida for their second game this season against the Miami Hurricanes – a team they beat by six points earlier this month. Once thought to be a tournament team, the ‘Canes have limped to a 9-8 record with losses in four of their last five games. Before playing the Seminoles, Miami will travel to Syracuse on Thursday.

Interesting Fact

Right now, FSU basketball has found themselves reeling in the start of ACC play – and a loss to the Tigers would give them a 1-5 record in conference play to start the season. Why is that a big deal? Because the Seminoles have never made the NCAA Tournament with five ACC losses in the first six games since joining the conference.

Next. FSU must accept higher expectations, play accordingly. dark

Twice before – last season and during the 1997-98 season – the Noles were able to get to March Madness with a 2-4 record to start conference play.
