FSU football will look to right the ship in Willie Taggart’s second year at the helm. We take a look at how FSU fans feel about the 2019 schedule.

FSU football did Willie Taggart no favors in his first year with the 2018 schedule that was rated as one of the toughest in the nation.

The schedule coupled with injuries on the offensive line and the inability of the offense to muster anything worthwhile resulted in the worst season in over 40 years.

However, the release of the 2019 FSU football schedule seemed to give fans some hope things couple be better in year two of the Taggart era.

The hiring of Kendal Briles as the offensive coordinator coupled with a schedule that seems to feature more winnable games seems to have generated some optimism among fans.

Thoughts

I think I’m in the same boat with the optimism. I mean I did think FSU football would win nine games with the 2018 schedule before the first game was played and the offense looked like they had never played before.

The offense can’t be any worse than it was in 2018. Kendal Briles hasn’t put up less than 35 ppg as an offensive coordinator and is much more proven than what Walt Bell brought to the table.

Not to mention the group of receivers FSU will feature will be insanely talented to go along with Cam Akers at running back. The offensive line can’t be any worse than it was last season.

The defense should be better in the back-end with the departure of AJ Westbrook, but they’ll need to find some answers at defensive end.

All in all, I think Willie Taggart has to get to eight wins in 2019. If he can get eight wins and then win a bowl game, it’ll give him all the momentum in the world going into the 2020 season with a chance to haul in a top five recruiting class.
