FSU recruiting is looking to close out its 2019 class by addressing some needs on the offensive line, quarterback and one more linebacker.
FSU recruiting has a solid class considering the 5-7 regular season finish that involved several blowouts near the end of the year.
The class consists of 19 recruits(15 signees and six early enrollees) with an average per player average of 90.26.
A lot of FSU fans and some media have criticized how Willie Taggart has handled this recruiting cycle. Hey, I’m not saying they are oblivious to any criticism because they have missed on targets like William Putnam down the stretch.
The class doesn’t have a ton of elite talent, but there are a ton of really good players in the class. Would everyone want a better recruiting class when it comes to ranking and/or blue chips?
Of course.
However, I think one of the most underrated characteristics of this recruiting class is their attitude.
Check out this tweet from four-star linebacker and signee Jaleel McRae:
Time to go help change a program ON & OFF the field... LET’S WORK... NOLE NATION STICK WITH US 🍢 IM HOME

Thoughts
McRae is referring to becoming an early enrollee when he says he’s home. This staff has done a great job of selling a vision of coming in and getting FSU football back to where it’s supposed to be to these recruits.
It’s a common theme we see on social media and media interviews from all-star games, etc. The culture on of the team the past few years has not been where it needs to be from a win at all cost mentality.
Players on the team have gotten accustomed to losing so much that seniors like AJ Westbrook were seen laughing with Florida Gator players on the field after getting blown out in his final college game ever.
That can’t be allowed ever again, and players like McRae, Dontae Lucas, Akeem Dent, Travis Jay and a host of others are what’s needed to turn the culture around.
Of course stars matter, but right now FSU recruiting needs nothing but “dogs” on the roster. It just so happens that Tribe19 has a lot of those that are blue chip players.
That mentality will go a long way to getting FSU back to prominence and competing for championships again.
