Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.

After another hot start to the season, the FSU basketball team took a much needed rest during finals week – but now finds themselves back on the court this week for three winnable games that could help set the Seminoles up in a great spot record wise ahead of the start of ACC play at the turn of the year.

But, head coach Leonard Hamilton knows that this year’s team still has plenty of things to work on to avoid getting beaten by a lesser team – much like they did last season when playing in the same spot that they will be in this weekend.

That being said, FSU basketball also knows that things are about to get a lot better considering the return of a leading scorer and one of the team’s leaders from last season’s Elite Eight run could be happening any time now.

Here’s our recap of the last week of action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

It’s been two weeks since the Seminoles took the court inside the Tucker Center, when they hosted the Troy Trojans for a showdown of teams not that far from each other. The Noles overcame a sloppy first half to start hot in the second and avoid a letdown to leave with a 83-67 win, led by 16 points from PJ Savoy and 14 from M.J. Walker.

On Saturday the 8th, FSU basketball was in New Jersey to face the UConn Huskies. This time, it was the Seminoles who shook off a ugly start and went on runs in both the first and second half, led by 20 points from Terance Mann and 16 from David Nicholls (13 in the first half alone) for the 79-71 victory to extend their record to 8-1 on the season.

Opponent Preview

The action starts inside the Tucker Center on Monday when the Seminoles host the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, who have dropped three of their last five game and enter this matchup with a 5-6 record after losing to The Citadel this past weekend.

On Wednesday, it will be the North Florida Ospreys who come to town with a 4-8 record after losing all three of their games last weekend, two of the games coming on the road against Minnesota and Florida International.

Finally, the Seminoles will be back in South Florida for the annual Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on Saturday when they face off with the St. Louis Billikins – who enter the game with a 7-3 record after losing Sunday to Houston and will face North Carolina Central on Wednesday before making the trip to the suburbs of Fort Lauderdale.

Interesting Fact

Saturday’s game will be the sixth straight season in which FSU basketball has made the pre-Christmas trip to play inside the BB&T Center for the annual Orange Bowl Basketball Classic – but the Seminoles will look to avoid an upset loss like last season, when they dropped a one point decision to Oklahoma State that turned out to be their only non-conference loss of the regular season.
