Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.

You would be hard pressed to find a better way to start the season for the FSU basketball team than what took place two weeks ago to kick things off – including a blowout win over their most hated rival that was followed by a convincing road win that showed the Seminoles can do things away from the Tucker Center, a problem in past seasons.

However, there is no time to rest after having a week off between games as the Noles prepare to play four games in a matter of seven days that includes working the Thanksgiving holiday and a potential chance to play the defending national champions to end the week.

But, before FSU basketball can even look that far ahead, there are three teams standing in their way that would love nothing more than to but a damper on the first weeks of the season for the Noles. Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

It was quite the way to start the season for FSU basketball back on November 6th when the then No. 17 ranked Seminoles hosted the rival Florida Gators. It was a game, though, that was never really in doubt as the Noles had a 10 point lead at the half and cruised to an 80-61 victory thanks to shooting nearly 48 percent from both the field and the three point line – including five three-pointers form PJ Savoy as part of his game high 20 points.

On Sunday the 11th, the Seminoles traveled to take on the Tulane Green Wave and got a challenge that included leading by just four points at the half. In the second half, FSU basketball pulled away thanks to a team high 21 points form Terance Mann and three more three pointers from Savoy to get an 80-69 victory.

Opponent Preview

Monday night, the Seminoles return back to the court at home when they take on a Canisius team that comes in with a 2-0 record after wins last week over Bucknell and Albany. After that, the Seminoles hit the road to work for the Thanksgiving holiday down in Orlando.

On Thursday night, FSU basketball will work off their turkey and stuffing with a showdown against a UAB Blazers team who comes in with a 3-0 record that includes close victories against New Orleans and Mercer. The action continues on Friday when the Seminoles will either face LSU or the College of Charleston.

The Noles will play one more game in the Advocare Invitational played at the Walt Disney World complex against one of four teams that includes Oklahoma State, Memphis, a possible second game in one week against Canisius or a showdown with defending champions Villanova.

Interesting Fact

If FSU basketball does have a showdown with the Wildcats during the coming weekend, it would be the second straight season that the Seminoles had played the defending champs – after defeating North Carolina last season by one point inside the Tucker Center.

It would also be the first non-ACC defending champ the Seminoles have played since losing to UConn in the 2011-12 season.
