FSU football picked up some key additions for the 2019 recruiting class and laid more ground work for more with “Saturday Night Live” event.

FSU football hosted its inaugural “Saturday Night Football” recruiting event over the weekend and had a lot of positives outcomes once it concluded.

The Noles added commitments from three-star offensive tackle Charles Cross, four-star safety  Brendan Gant and is likely to land four-star linebacker Kalen Deloach who is likely to announce his commitment Monday at 2 p.m. ET.

If Deloach comes into the fold the class will have a blue chip ratio of 75 percent(1 five-star, 10 four-stars and 4 three-stars).

A lot of fans were becoming impatient that the commitments didn’t start rolling in until Sunday afternoon. However, the actual event didn’t officially begin until 4 p.m. ET Saturday with most of the recruits not arriving until Saturday.

The coaches were busy greeting all the players as they arrived on campus so it left little time to interact with each for long periods of time before the event began.

The only negative was the crowd wasn’t close to the 10,000 the coaches wanted in attendance. However, it was blazing hot at 4 p.m. and only true die-hard fans would want to sit in that heat to see players whom the majority are not committed at the moment.

It’s possible the best thing to do is move the event to a later start time to try to alleviate the heat, but I’m sure the coaches had their reasons for the time frame they scheduled it for.

More Goods

The event also helped gain ground on some important recruits the Noles need to land in this class. Five-star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux had another great visit and said he’d be back, likely for an official visit in the fall. Five-star Nakobe Dean had a great visit and the coaches won over his mother. The staff and players seemed to be able to connect with four-star wide receiver George Pickens who’s currently committed to Auburn.

They also made up huge ground with five-star offensive lineman Kardell Thomas. Four-star defensive tackle Tyler Davis was back on campus again to work with defensive line coach Odell Haggins and the Noles are now in the lead on 247’s crystal ball predictions.

It also sounds like most of the Nole commitments in attendance are very solid in their pledges to FSU as well.
