FSU football has a lot of folk excited about the upcoming season, but perhaps no one is more excited than senior Alec Eberle.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen senior Alec Eberle so vocal on social media prior to this summer. One of the team’s most important players is happy and getting a ton of recognition on several preseason watch lists.

Eberle has now been added to the Rimington, Outland and Wuerffel Trophy watch lists for the second consecutive season according to recent press releases.

The Rimington Award is given to the player considered the best center in the nation. The Outland Award is given to the player considered the best interior lineman.

However, the Wuerffel Trophy is presented to a player who’s done the most outstanding work in regards to community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Eberle has been a staple on the offensive line since his redshirt freshman season, making 32 consecutive starts while helping pave the way for two running backs that have rushed for over 1,000 yards.

He’s been named All-ACC and to the AFCA Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Thoughts

Alec Eberle is going to be extremely important to the success of the 2018 football team. The offense is going to be centered around the run game and having Eberle’s experience will be invaluable against some tough defenses.

If the run game is as successful as we think it’ll be, we could see Eberle in the mix to win one of these awards.

It’s also great for him to continue to get recognition as these are all things the coaching staff can point towards when trying to influence recruits to come to FSU football.

As you can see in the tweet earlier, Eberle seems pumped for the upcoming season as do all the players. He was talking earlier this week about all the gains he’s made in the weight room with Coach Irele Oderinde’s strength and conditioning program.

If that doesn’t get you pumped, I don’t know what will!
