FSU football had the least amount of players selected to the All-ACC preseason team since Jimbo Fisher’s first year in 2010.

Although the recruiting rankings say otherwise, FSU football continues to have less and fewer players voted onto All-ACC preseason teams.

The Noles only had two players named to the All-ACC team according to Tuesday’s press release:

The Noles had four named in 2015, five in 2016 and three in 2017. Also, for the first time in forever there are no Noles defensive players listed.

In contrast, Clemson led all teams with eight players listed with their entire defensive line making the list. Boston College had four selections and Miami had three selections to the team.

Thoughts

Akers and Aguayo deserved the nod for sure as both were among the best in the conference at their respective positions in 2017.

I have no problems with most of the selections but there were a couple of FSU players that deemed worthy of the nod.

Cornerback Levonta Taylor and defensive end Brian Burns deserved to be on the team. Taylor led the nation with only allowing one reception every 30.6 snaps according to Pro Football Focus.

He should be on team instead of Miami’s Michael Jackson. Brian Burns has nearly identical numbers to Clemson’s Austin Bryant at the defensive end slot.

He also had more passes defended more fumbles forced and more punts/field goals blocked.

I get the voters believe Clemson has the best defensive line overall in the nation, but that doesn’t mean every one of them should be voted All-ACC preseason by default.

A lot of folk are sleeping on this FSU defense that didn’t allow more than 35 points in a game all season. I think there will be at least one more offensive player to make the All-ACC post season too.

I’m sure the coaches and players are preaching team first as they should be, but I can’t help to think a few Noles see this list and see nothing but motivation for the season.
