FSU football sent several receivers to the NFL in last April’s draft, and one expert believes that trend will continue with the unit’s returning leader.

In the spring football session for FSU football, the biggest question was what the wide receiver room was going to look like – especially considering the fact it looked more like a M*A*S*H unit at times than a football team’s group. One of those sidelined was the returning leader this season, senior Nyqwan Murray.

After a promising end to the 2016 season that saw the Orlando native have 100 yard games against N.C. State and Michigan along with a 96 yard game against Clemson, Murray slightly stepped back last season and finished with 604 yards and just four touchdowns – but with Auden Tate’s departure to the NFL, Murray is expected to be FSU football’s go to target this season.

Of course, he had another setback when Murray injured his left knee not long after the start of spring practice and missed the rest of the time on the field.

Even with all of that, Murray is still getting love heading into the 2018 college football season – with one NFL.com draft analyst calling him one of the top 10 receivers to watch this upcoming year.

"Murray has some of the most natural receiving talent of any player on this list. He has excellent ball skills, a good feel for space, the toughness to catch through contact and very reliable hands. The senior needs to improve his skill level and focus as a route runner to unlock his full potential."

There is no doubt that when he lives up to his potential, Nyqwan Murray isn’t just the best receiver in a FSU football uniform, but may be the best receiver in the entire ACC and one of the best in the entire country.

Much of the pass game under new head coach Willie Taggart and the Gulf Coast offense is going to need a fast, great route runner who isn’t afraid to get messy in the middle of the field – all things that Murray is fully capable of doing.

Murray was also one of three ACC receivers on the list and the top out of the group – ahead of Miami’s Ahmmon Richards (No. 8) and Clemson’s Hunter Renfrow (No. 10).
