FSU football had a lot of players to attend their camp looking to get better this week. One player seems to have been there forever.

The 2019 FSU football recruiting class has one player that’s been committed since March 3, 2017, and hasn’t seemed to waiver on the commitment at all even though FSU went through a coaching change.

That player is three-star defensive tackle Tru Thompson who’s been camping at Tallahassee since he was in the eighth grade.

He’s been working with FSU defensive line coach Odell Haggins each year and earned his FSU offer the old fashion way

Competing.

Thompson’s going into his senior season with the same competitive drive he had prior to committing, and  had an excellent camp at FSU this week.

He’s rated as the No. 581 player and No. 40 defensive tackle in the nation by the 247 Composite. Thompson checks in at 6’0″ 338 pounds, but seems to be in better shape this year.

Check out some highlights from camp:

Thoughts

Thompson has the tools to be a very good player for the Noles. He plays with good technique and low center of gravity which makes it tough for offensive linemen to move him.

However, one of my favorite things about Thompson is displayed in the tweet from him above. He’s a no-nonsense not here for the games or into hyping himself too much type of player.

It also sounds like a player who’s been around Coach Haggins for multiple years.

I think Thompson’s a bit underrated now that we’ve seen him at camp this week. The one knock on Thompson is probably his height, but that gives him the low center of gravity he’s learned to use as a weapon as seen in the videos above.

Good work young man and keep repping the Noles the way you have been.
