Former FSU football standout defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi gets his contract.

It took longer than most but Derrick Nnadi signed his rookie deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday according to the teams official Twitter account.

Nnadi was selected in the third round with the No. 75 pick overall after the Chiefs moved up by making a trade with the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL.com projected Nnadi to be selected in the fourth or fifth round but did project him as a player with a chance to become a starter.

Thoughts

It’s great news for Derrick Nnadi and the FSU football program as Odell Haggins continues to put players in the NFL to get paid lots of money.

All that does is allow the coaching staff to put that information in front of respective recruits to help them make informed decisions about joining the FSU program.

Here’s a list of former FSU defensive linemen drafted recently:

  • Derrick Nnadi-3rd round
  • DeMarcus Walker-2nd round
  • Mario Edwards Jr.-2nd round
  • Eddie Goldman-2nd round
  • Tim Jernigan-2nd round

I think Nnadi is a player who’ll play in the league for a long time and be quite effective. He’s excellent against the run and underrated as a pass rusher.

Reports from Chiefs’ minicamp were positive for Nnadi who seemed to be right at home causing havoc as the anchor of the defensive line.

The Noles have one of the most talented defensive lines going into the 2018 season, and should see this trend of defensive linemen selected in the early rounds of the draft continue.
