FSU Football: 11 Noles make ACC Top 100 players list
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football is coming off its worst season in a decade but returns one of the most talented teams in the ACC.
How’s it possible FSU football would finish the 2017 season (7-6) and sixth in the ACC Atlantic Division but still have 11 players on the ACC top 100 list going into 2018?
That seems to be the case as one website lists 11 Noles on that list.
That’s the third most behind Clemson and Miami who had 14 and 13 players listed respectively.
Here’s the list of where the Noles placed:
- Stanford Samuels-No. 90 (CB)
- Ricky Aguayo-No. 85 (K)
- Deondre Francois-No. 71 (QB)
- James Blackman-No. 70 (QB)
- Alec Eberle-No. 58 (C)
- Nyqwan Murray-No. 48 (WR)
- Brian Burns-No. 36 (DE)
- Jacques Patrick-No. 35 (RB)
- DeMarcus Christmas-No. 30 (DT)
- Levonta Taylor-No. 21 (CB)
- Cam Akers-No. 6 (RB)

Thoughts
The writer is likely overvaluing the Miami defense who lived off turnovers last season with seven of those 13 players coming on the defensive side of the ball.
The Canes’ defense finished the season No. 22 in S&P advanced metrics which further let us know that defense wasn’t as good as some thought as Wisconsin rolled them in their bowl game.
Heck, FSU true freshman QB James Blackan cooked them in the second half of their game.
Also, sorry bro, he can’t put Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence on the list when he hasn’t even taken a college snap yet. He is a tremendous talent, but let the kid earn the spot first.
What’s crazy is Clemson has eight players listed in the top 23 players on the list.
NC State placed nine players on the list with the Noles traveling to Raleigh to play in the always tough Carter-Finley Stadium.
It’s interesting to see FSU’s first opponent in 2018, Virginia Tech only have six players listed, and one of those players (Josh Jackson) may not be eligible to play due to academics.

All in all, a solid list and it’s easy to see why so many people are high on Clemson will all that talent returning on defense.
