Could FSU recruiting have the hottest quarterback prospect in the country?
FSU recruiting was on fire earlier this month with at one time the No. 1 ranked class in the nation(currently No. 3 now).
The commit that started it all was four-star quarterback Sam Howell who committed to the Noles on April 9th.
However, not only did his commitment ignite the 2019 FSU recruiting class, it also ignited his own profile.
Howell has jumped from the No. 152 overall ranked player in the nation to the No. 100 ranked player in the last three weeks while earning several accolades.

Thoughts
They are different types of players but Howell’s stock increase seems to be mirroring how Justin Fields went last year. Highly rated quarterbacks whose stock caught fire prior to the beginning of their senior year
Justin Fields was committed to Penn State before his recruitment really blew up, and he went on to earn his fifth star before ultimately de-committing and courting several schools including FSU.
Howell is an Elite 11 finalist like Fields in 2017 with Fields winning the Elite 11 MVP. It’s going to be interesting to see if Howell’s game and confidence continue to rise as the stages begin to get bigger.
As for now, he’s looking dominant at every regional event he’s performing at which bodes well for FSU football. He’s also recruiting hard for the 2019 class which will likely finish as one of the best classes in the nation.
Howell’s currently ranked as the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the nation although he’s more of a dual-threat than pro-style.

There are no five-star rated QB’s at the moment, but could Howell continue to ascend and possibly capture his fifth star? Time will tell, but for now it looks like FSU has a winner in its class.
