Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2018 baseball season.

After another midweek set back against their hated rivals followed by getting a clutch series win against one of the teams standing between them and an Atlantic Division crown, FSU baseball took care of business at home in a one game midweek battle against another longtime in-state foe they have had recent success against inside Dick Howser Stadium

Now, the Seminoles face a seven game stretch that includes three games at a hostile ACC foe, followed by four games at home against both a hated foe that the Noles can not seem to get over of late followed by three games against a surprise team who happens to be leading the Coastal Division – needless to say, business is about to pick up for Mike Martin’s team.

Here’s our preview of this weekend’s game between the Seminoles and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

After taking two of three from Louisville, FSU baseball had to wait until Wednesday before they headed back onto the field to take on the Jacksonville Dolphins – in a game where the team honored Fred Flowers, the first African-American athlete in the school’s history when he played for the team during the 1965 season.

As for the action on the field, this one was over quickly as the Seminoles put five runs on the board in the first inning – including two run homers by both Cal Raleigh and Reese Albert – before adding another run in the second inning. That was more than enough for Andrew Karp, who struck out five Dolphins in seven innings for the 6-2 victory.

Opponent Preview

The usually powerful Yellow Jackets have struggled at points this season and come into the weekend with a 17-12 record – however, they have picked things up of late and won four straight games (including a sweep over slumping Miami) before losing to rival Georgia on Tuesday in the first of three games between the rivals this season.

For the season, Georgia Tech is batting .309 as a team with six of their normal starters batting over .316 on the season. The pitching staff has gotten rocked at times this season with an ERA at 4.69 while opponents are batting .265 on the season against them.

Interesting Fact

With the new ACC format for scheduling and the teams being in opposite divisions despite Atlanta being the closest to Tallahassee, it will be the first time the teams have met since 2016 and the first time in Atlanta since 2014. All-time, the Seminoles have won six of the 11 series between the teams played inside Russ Chandler Stadium, but just once in the last 10 seasons.
