FSU football has one of just three undefeated teams to play in the College Football Playoff era – yet one writer had no respect for the Seminoles.

For the FSU football team in the 2014 season, things didn’t come nearly as easy as the season before when they brought home the school’s third national title. Instead of blowing teams out every week, the Seminoles were coming back week after week just to beat teams like Miami and Boston College while reigning Heisman winner Jameis Winston slumped at points.

Still, the Noles did their job that no other team in the FBS could say that season – they went 13-0 during the regular season and championship weekend. In the first year of the College Football Playoff, the Seminoles knew they would get in – but still got disrespected by the voters that put them below Alabama and Oregon, both teams with a loss on their resume.

Now, years after the fact, FSU football’s last team to go undefeated in the regular season is getting disrespected again. In the theme of March Madness, Sports Illustrated created a Sweet 16 bracket with the teams who have made it into the playoff system over the last four seasons.

With the Seminoles being among just three teams to enter the playoff unbeaten, you would think they would have gotten a high seed. Well, about that…

"No. 1 – 2016 Clemson (lost to Pittsburgh at home)No. 2 – 2015 Alabama (lost to Ole Miss at home)No. 3 – 2014 Ohio State (lost to Virginia Tech at home)No. 4 – 2016 Alabama (unbeaten team)No. 5 – 2017 Alabama (won title)No. 6 – 2015 Clemson (unbeaten team)No. 7 – 2014 Alabama (lost to Ole Miss and in CFP semifinal like FSU football)No. 8 – 2017 Georgia (played for title)No. 9 – 2017 Clemson (lost to 4-8 Syracuse team)No. 10 – 2017 Oklahoma (lost to Iowa State at home)No. 11 – 2014 Oregon (beat Seminoles badly in Rose Bowl)No. 12 – 2014 FLORIDA STATE (UNBEATEN TEAM)No. 13 – 2015 OklahomaNo. 14 – 2016 Ohio StateNo. 15 – 2016 WashingtonNo. 16 – 2015 Michigan State"

As you can tell by my comments, shenanigans can be called on the Seminoles being in the double digits – with the writer’s argument being the close games and the blowout loss to the Ducks as why the Noles are so low on the list.

Aside from the fact I believe that the 2014 FSU football team would have manhandled at least half of the teams ahead of them on this “expert list”, you can not argue that a Clemson team who lost to a losing Orange team and later lost in the semis just like the Seminoles did is better – same with a Sooners team this year with a bad home loss or a Bama team that gets ranked high because they are Alabama at this point.

Just two teams know what it is like to do what FSU football did and both of them are ranked in the top six – if this isn’t disrespect toward the Seminoles, I don’t know what is.
