Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2018 baseball season.

It seems as if FSU baseball can not find a way to beat their bitter rivals – even when having their midweek starter throw without a doubt his best game of the season, the Seminoles still couldn’t get the job done and continued a losing streak that will be all the talk of the college baseball world for the next two weeks until they meet again.

Now, the Noles continue their recent string of tough competition against an ACC Atlantic Division foe that might be their toughest of the entire season in a three game series that could not only decide the division crown, but who will get the top seed for the conference tournament when it begins this May.

Here’s our preview of this weekend’s game between the Seminoles and the Louisville Cardinals.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

Entering Tuesday’s game against the rival Florida Gators over in Jacksonville, the Seminoles had dropped 11 of their last 12 games to the bitter rivals – including dropping a 12-6 decision in the first game this season between the teams.

For the Noles, things couldn’t have gone much better on the mound as Andrew Karp pitched a complete game four hitter, allowing just one run while striking out seven over eight innings. Unfortunately, the FSU baseball bats went silent on the evening as they team had just one hit through eight innings.

In the ninth, the Seminoles got two runners on base and had the tying run on third when Cal Raleigh it an “excuse me” grounder to first base – and the streak went to 12 of the last 13 games as the Noles dropped a 1-0 decision to the Gators.

Opponent Preview

At the start of the 2018 season, the Louisville Cardinals were one of the hottest teams in baseball as they won their first 14 games. Over their last 10 games, the men in red have limped to a 4-6 record that included dropping two of three games in their last two ACC series against Wake Forest and Clemson.

On the season, Louisville is batting .284 as a team with Drew Campbell leading the way with a .375 average. On the mound, the Cards have a combined 3.38 ERA – but their weapon is closer Sam Bordner, who has eight saves in 11 appearances with a 0.75 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 12 innings pitched.

Interesting Fact

Although the Cardinals are technically the newest members of the ACC as they entered during the 2014-15 year, they have a baseball history with FSU dating back to the time when both school played in the Metro Conference. Currently, FSU baseball holds a 25-5 series advantage (7-3 in ACC play) and the Seminoles are currently on a four game winning streak.
