It’s contract season in the NFL and lots of FSU alums are getting paid.

Free agency in the NFL is underway and there have been a lot of action involving FSU alums signing new contracts.

We reported former Nole great Lamarcus Joyner getting the franchise tag with the Los Angeles Rams last week to the tune of 11.3 million dollars.

Now more news is coming out involving former players that have been in the league long enough to get new contracts.

Players getting to those second and third contracts is what it’s all about as their play can dictate how big that contract is unlike their rookie deals.

Thoughts

Aside from Janikowski, all of these guys were a huge part of putting FSU football back on the map as an elite program.

Lamarcus Joyner committing to FSU was actually a pivotal moment for the former head coach and helped him salvage that 2010 recruiting class before going on to several top five finishes.

Joyner was a second round draft pick, Bradham was a fourth rounder, Brooks was a third rounder and Christian Jones signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent.

Despite not being drafted, Jones started a ton of games for the Bears culminating in his most productive season in 2017 leading the team in tackles.

All of these instances will be tools the new staff can use in recruiting even though they didn’t coach any of them. However, unlike the mess Texas A&M was doing, these players actually played at FSU.

It continues the prestige of the school by showing recruits that you can play at FSU and go play in the NFL for a long time whether you’re a first round draft pick or not and get paid big money to do it.
