FSU basketball saw another poor shooting night do the team in Monday as they lost a game they needed on the road against the Eagles.

After splitting their last eight games of the season and having a losing record in ACC play, the FSU basketball team started a week on the road with a game against Boston College that the Seminoles – on paper, at least – should have easily won to begin the process of turning things around heading into the meat of the conference schedule.

So, predictably, this would be the game where the Noles would have one of their worst shooting nights of the season – including shooting less than 20 percent from behind the three point line – and lose 81-75 inside the Conte Forum on a cold night in Chestnut Hill, MA.

The Seminoles never led once in the game, with Boston College jumping out to a 12 point lead after Ky Bowman hit a three pointer with under eight minutes to go – part of his team high 19 points and 13 rebounds – as part of a run that would see the Eagles go up by 16 at the half.

BC would extend their lead over FSU basketball to 19 at the start of the second half before the Seminoles finally woke up. With just under five minutes to go, Braian Angola hit a three and Terance Mann added for his game high 21 points – after missing Saturday’s game with a concussion – as the deficit was cut to seven points.

Angola would hit another three to cut the deficit to five with under a minute to play, but the Seminoles went into foul mode and Boston College did their job at the free throw line, keeping the Noles from completing the comeback.

The Seminoles dropped to 13-5 on the season and 2-4 in ACC play. C.J Walker added 19 points along with Angola’s 17 points – including hitting three of the team’s five three pointers in the game. FSU basketball shot just under 34 percent from the field – including starters Phil Cofer and Christ Koumadje combining for just seven points in the game.

Florida State returns to action on Saturday when they travel to another commonwealth – this time heading to face Virginia Tech for a noon tipoff. The Seminoles won both games the teams played last season, including a six point victory in the ACC Tournament.
