FSU football received some great news Wednesday night when Jacques Patrick announced he’ll return for his senior season.
FSU football already lost the likes of Derwin James, Josh Sweat, Auden Tate, Tarvarus McFadden, Ryan Izzo and Jalen Wilkerson to dreams of playing in the NFL.
However, junior running back Jacques Patrick announced he’ll return for his senior season.
That’s big time news for the ‘Noles as Patrick was a huge impact player for FSU in 2017 after sitting behind Dalvin Cook his first two seasons in Tallahassee.
Willie Taggart loves to attack with the run game and having a physical running back like Patrick is always a good thing.
I have decided not to put my name in this year’s NFL Draft and will remain at Florida State for my senior season! I’m excited to get back to work with my teammates and our new coaching staff to prepare for a great 2018 season. See you in Doak on September 3rd!!

Thoughts
Some folk didn’t think Patrick fit well into Willie Taggart’s offense, but Patrick reached out to Oregon running back Royce Freeman who stayed his senior year to play for Taggart and had a huge season.
That conversation must have played a part in his desire to return. Patrick finished the season with a career high in rush attempts, yards, touchdowns, receptions and receiving yards.
Taggart’s offense will feature three running backs on the field at times. In fact, there were three running backs for Oregon who ran for 1,475 yards, 584 yards and 498 yards respectively in 2017.
A three-headed monster of Patrick, Cam Akers and Khalan Laborn or Amir Rasul will be a nightmare for opposing defenses. Also, can’t forget about Zaquandre White who’s a former four-star running back that redshirted in 2017.

Patrick brings a lot of leadership to the table as well as he will be able to help Laborn and White find themselves after watching for a season.
Glad to have you back Mr. Patrick!
