Jimbo Fisher leaves FSU football for Texas A&M. We have the player and fan reaction.
It’s been one of the craziest weeks in FSU football sports history. Finally, the speculation about the future of FSU football and its head coach can move forward with the news of Jimbo Fisher accepting the job at Texas A&M.
The other good news is he will NOT coach in FSU’s season finale against Louisiana-Monroe with longtime defensive line coach Odell Haggins giving the honor of leading the team.
Fisher didn’t handle this situation the best and a lot of fans are upset at some of the rumors flying around his departure.
However, whether true or not, Fisher did make FSU football elite again after mediocrity during the late years of Bobby Bowden.
Players and fans chimed in on social media to give their thoughts once the news broke.
Twitter Reaction
Coach, thank you for building our program back up from thenlost decade. I’m grateful for all the accomplishments on the field and off. A little bitter right now but you will always be a part of FSU. #Noles pic.twitter.com/xaUjlPtwgs

I personally had a good chat and handshake with Jimbo this past Wednesday. So it’s hard to be so angry like some of my fellow Noles. But we’ll remain Unconquered, and continue on as the Seminoles always have! Go Noles! See ya tomorrow, @FSUFootball.

This outcome was needed for all parties. Jimbo did some amazing things for FSU, for which I am grateful. I wish him well.

Sad to see Jimbo go. Sad it went down like a bad divorce. Wish Jimbo the best. Now to hire someone who will be greater than Jimbo could have been. #nextmanup

Everyone that can make it needs to be at Doak on Saturday to show that you support the team, the school & Interim Coach. Imagine how the team feels- they need your support badly! 🏈❤️💛

Looks like Jimbo wasn’t man enough to “bring his ass down here” and say he’s leaving to his own team.

Thoughts
As I said, Fisher’s tenure at FSU came to a nasty end and could have been easily avoided had he and the school communicated better. However, it was best to both go their separate ways and the ‘Noles will be fine moving forward.
I feel terrible for the players on the team that seemingly found out he was leaving via social media, although I’m sure they may have had an idea by the time the news broke.
Also, the players in the 2018 recruiting class have to feel some sort of way since Fisher didn’t really recruit for the last month he was at FSU. John Huggins was listed in one of the tweets above, a three-star safety who’s the fourth de-commitment from the class in the past three days.
It’ll be interesting to see how Fisher fits in at College Station with little to no recruiting ties in the state. Also, even more curious will be who he decides to hire on his staff there.
FSU had already starting the vetting process of a couple of potential hires like Oregon’s Willie Taggart and Virginia Tech’s Justin Fuente. I expect them to make a hire in the coming week or so whoever the new coach turns out to be.

Fisher will officially leave FSU with a losing record in his final season in Tally at (5-6). Did he have to throw the Christmas tree out like that though?
