FSU football could face a shorthanded Alabama team Saturday night.

The Alabama Crimson Tide could be limited when they face the FSU football team Saturday night. The Tuscaloosanews.com has reported defensive end Raekwon Davis suffered a gunshot wound Saturday night.

He was shot in the leg presumably by a stray bullet outside a Alabama bar. Davis is a projected starter on the Alabama defense after playing mostly as a reserve last season.

The defensive line is the unit most consider the strength of the Alabama defense when matching up against FSU football.

Here’s an excerpt of what happened below:

“The victim told investigators he was standing outside of Bar 17 when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in the right leg,” Homicide Unit commander Capt. Gary Hood said. “The victim was uncooperative with investigators.”

Thoughts

First of all, thoughts and prayers to Davis for a speedy recovery and hopefully it was him in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, not cooperating with investigators does raise my brow a tad.

The biggest question mark going into the game is can the FSU football offensive line block well enough to give Deondre Francois enough time to attack downfield with the passing game.

Alabama is ultra talented, but did lose a lot of firepower via the NFL Draft a few months ago. The fact that Davis didn’t play a ton last season likely means his replacement is even less experienced as he is if he isn’t able to play.

That could be an advantage for FSU football, and an area they can exploit in the running game. I’ve never been shot in the leg, so I’m not sure if Davis will be able to play Saturday night or not.

The report doesn’t specify if he is still hospitalized or if the bullet went straight through or what. It did say minor injuries, so we’ll have to see if he’s available to play this week.
