FSU football faces maybe the toughest opener in program history this season against Alabama – a game that one site thinks could set the Noles up to fail.

It’s no secret that the opening game for FSU football this season is setting up to be maybe the biggest season debut in the soon to be 71 seasons the Seminoles have taken the field. The hype surrounding the opener between the Noles and the Alabama Crimson Tide could also end up being the biggest opening week game in the history of college football when it’s all said and done.

According to one website, it could also be setting the Seminoles up to fail at reaching expectations this season.

FOXSports.com recently listed the reason that each of the projected Top 25 teams at the start of the season could fail to reach expectations set for the upcoming year – a season in which many expect the Seminoles to not only get back to winning the ACC, but be one of the four teams in the College Football Playoff.

For FSU football, the battle with the Crimson Tide is that reason because of what would need to take place if the Seminoles lose:

"…They would basically have to run the table the rest of the way to make the final four. That won’t be easy with an incredibly challenging schedule that includes road games against Clemson and Florida, plus home tilts with Louisville and Miami."

Okay, if that’s the reasoning then we all can’t be TOO mad about it – because we have been talking about how this may be one of the toughest schedules the Seminoles will face all time due to a top heavy slate that rivals one from any other major power across the country this season.

FSU football will not have much time to rebound if they do drop the opener, with the Hurricanes coming to town two weeks later followed by a always tricky N.C. State team and facing the Cardinals, Tigers and Gators in the second half of the season. All that means a opening loss wouldn’t be the end of the world – but it would be a pretty big blow to what many expect from the Noles this season.
