In seven seasons as the head coach for FSU football, Jimbo Fisher has led the Seminoles on the field and left it victorious 78 times. Those wins have involved victories over hated rivals, conference foes and national powers to go along with big bowl victories, conference titles and the third national title in program history.
While some have been easier than others, there have been dozens that have been memorable for fans of the Seminoles – whether it was who they beat, what it meant or even the time of the season it took place. No. 4 – October 19, 2013 at Clemson (W 51-14)
When the 2013 season started, the hopes for FSU football were maybe another ACC title and BCS bowl game like the year before, but many didn’t think that they would be ranked in the top five when they traveled to the Palmetto State for maybe the biggest conference game in ACC history. The third ranked Tigers had the experienced quarterback while the Noles were starting a redshirt freshman – a decent amount of people thought this would be the end of the line for the unbeaten record.
They would be proven wrong starting with the first play of the game, when Florida State forced a fumble that would be turned into a Jameis Winston to Kelvin Benjamin touchdown pass just a few plays later. Just 12 minutes in – thanks to a Lamarcus Joyner strip that Mario Edwards Jr. rumbled in for a score, the Noles were up 17-0 and Death Valley was quiet except for those in Garnet and Gold. Clemson would get a touchdown, but the Seminoles added a Winston to Rashad Green long touchdown and a Roberto Aguayo field goal to take a 27-7 lead into the locker room.
The second half wasn’t much different as FSU football took the opening kickoff and marched down field, where Winston – who finished the night with 444 yards passing to just 203 for Boyd – found Greene again for the score. Jameis would pad his resume with a touchdown run before the end of the third quarter and the route was on while fans in orange were filing out.
A Devonta Freeman score and another Aguayo field goal put over 50 on the board while the defense put together four sacks and two interceptions against the Tigers offense, giving up a garbage touchdown with seconds left to clinch the win.

It was at this point that the rest of the nation – as well as many FSU football fans – started to realize that this Seminoles team was going to be one sticking around this season. The Noles, who had been dominating opponents so far in the year, won their next seven games by an average of almost 44 points each week, setting themselves up for a shot at the national title in the final BCS championship game, where they came back against Auburn for the three point win.
