FSU Football: Vegas Odds Like Noles Making ACC Title Game in 2017
By Jason Parker
FSU football is entering the final week of spring practice as the odds on favorite to not only make it to the ACC title game, but win it over Virginia Tech.
In their first nine seasons as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, FSU football had a perfect record of winning the conference’s football championship. In the 16 seasons since, the Seminoles have been able to win just six league crowns – including four in the conference title game that was founded starting in the 2005 season.
After winning three straight titles from 2012 to 2014, the ‘Noles have watched as rival Clemson has not only won the Atlantic Division each of the last two seasons – but gone on to win the entire conference.
According to one Las Vegas casino sportsbook, the odds are in FSU football’s favor to reclaim both crowns during the 2017 season. Golden Nugget released their latest odds for who will win the conference title game in each of the Power Five conferences in the FBS that have such a game – and the Seminoles are right back where they belong:
Florida State Seminoles Football
It should be noted that if the odds released do come true (FSU over Va. Tech, Alabama over Georgia, USC over Washington and Ohio State over Wisconsin), the four winners would be the same as what the Westgate Las Vegas sportsbook put out earlier with their latest odds of who will make the College Football Playoff.
There should also be some caution for FSU football fans as the Seminoles are dominating the odds by any stretch of the imagination. It looks to again be a tight race between the ‘Noles and Clemson Tigers – along with the Louisville Cardinals – in the Atlantic Division yet again, so look for that Nov. 11th tilt in South Carolina to again be for the right to go to…well, wherever the conference title game is played this season.
An interesting sidenote: while it appears the Atlantic Division will again be the dominate one with the top three teams odds wise being from that side, the same is true for the Big Ten’s East Division and the SEC’s West Division – as both of those sides produced the top three teams odds wise as well in their respective conferences.
