Florida State capped off an impressive victory against Virginia Tech by a score of 34-14 to leave the fans in Doak Campbell Stadium happy. The Seminoles finished the year with a 5-2 home record. While Florida State is sitting with an overall 5-5 record, the program can still run the table and finish strong.
Some fans aren't worried about that, as the job security of head coach Mike Norvell. The $54 million buyout is an obstacle that individuals think the administration cannot overcome. They even made a statement about wanting to have a comprehensive assessment at the end of the year.
With all the drama happening, it is hard to envision how the 2026 recruiting class will play out for the Florida State Seminoles.
RECRUITS TRENDING TO FSU?
Florida State had de-commitments from four-star defensive back Jay Timmons (flip to Ohio State) and three-star defensive lineman Tico Crittendon. However, I am shocked that there hasn't been more action in terms of prospects backing off of their pledges.
The Seminoles' coaching staff still decided to bring in several recruits for the final home game of the year against Virginia Tech. Ironically enough, on Sunday afternoon, On3's Steve Wiltfong put in expert predictions in favor of Florida State for four-star running back Amari Thomas (South Carolina commit) and four-star JUCO defensive end Jalen Anderson.
Thomas has visited Tallahassee several times throughout the year, even when he did de-commit from Florida State. South Carolina blew a 30-3 lead over Texas A&M, which allowed head football coach Shane Beamer to be fired.
As for Anderson, he is a 6'3" and 241-pound pass rusher that has offers from Illinois, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, and Nebraska. The JUCO product recorded 41 tackles (11.5 for loss) and seven sacks through nine games.
Overall, these two predictions makes me feel like Coach Norvell could be back in Tallahassee in 2026 if there isn't a disaster to end the year.
