Would FSU football be revived with head football coach Deion Sanders?

Is it time for Prime Time in Tallahassee?

Florida State football has limped to a 1-9 record on the year. I never thought that would ever be possible with the Seminoles. Meanwhile, arch-rivals Florida and Miami are becoming successful on the gridiron and in recruiting.

This was not what the Seminole faithful envisioned after Florida State was projected to win the conference and make the College Football Playoff. There were even some individuals (including myself) who thought the Seminoles would use last year's snub as motivation.

The standard is the standard at Florida State. Head football coach Mike Norvell understands the frustrations that the fan base is having. With that being said, this result on the field is inexcusable. Quite honestly, if Norvell did not receive an extension this offseason after pondering on the Alabama job opportunity, he could have been firmly on the hot seat.

A name that some Seminole fans and even the outside media have mentioned to replace Norvell is Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders. It has been an ongoing discussion since Florida State lost to FCS opponent Jacksonville State. However, the conversation quieted down after the Seminoles went a combined 23-4 record in 2022 and 2023.

When winning happens, the heat lessens. However, at Florida State, when losing transpires, individuals need answers. Can Deion Sanders be the option for solving the Seminoles' woes?

I have concerns about Prime Time in Tallahassee. Everyone suggests that he brings high schoolers to his institutions, but Colorado was ranked 79th in the 2025 recruiting class, 95th in 2024, and 30th in 2023. He has relied on the transfer portal to fill his roster (sound familiar?).

Sanders's coaching resume is limited, and he has a combined record of 12-10 with the Buffaloes with a generational wide receiver/cornerback, Travis Hunter, and quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. What will he do in 2025 when both options go to the NFL (if he stays at Colorado)?

Let's also mention that Colorado's best win in 2024 was against a 7-3 Colorado State team. It isn't like the Buffaloes have played a murder's row of opponents (not comparing apples to apples with Florida State).

Prime Time would bring eyes to Tallahassee with being a former player at the university and being who he is. However, with stability, how long would he coach at Florida State given his various health conditions, his son being in the NFL, and his interest in coaching professional football?

To be honest, I admire what Deion has done at Colorado, as well as the impact that he has had on several young men. However, I think head football coach Mike Norvell (even though I am not excusing 2024) deserves a chance to fix Florida State football. I would also press the brakes on making him the headman with the Seminoles at this time.
