FSU FOOTBALL
Florida State football defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 31-17 on Saturday afternoon, in case you didn't hear. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos set out to do exactly what he said and told the nation that Alabama couldn't stop him.
This was a collective effort by the Seminoles as they put a 2-10 record behind them. Obviously, this is an entirely different squad, as they welcomed forty-four new transfers and recruits.
No more 2-10 jokes, and the clown shows Paul Finebaum and Greg McElroy are quiet. It is a glorious day to be a fan of the Florida State Seminoles.
AP POLL
I wonder, after the victory over Alabama, where the Seminoles will be placed in the updated Associated Press Poll. Of course, we have No. 13 South Carolina taking on Virginia Tech, then there is No. 6 Notre Dame taking on the arch-rival No. 10 Miami Hurricanes in that disappointment that they call a stadium (it is only right to take shots).
As a result, there will be results that need to be placed to figure out the placements of a couple of teams. I originally thought that the Seminoles could be somewhere in the ballpark of No. 23. Honestly, I hope that Florida State doesn't get ranked at all because I want this team to continue to have that edge and determination about themselves to get better.
However, with the Seminoles about to face off against East Texas A&M and Kent State in the next two games, I could see Florida State not being talked about until they play Virginia on that road Friday night game.
Week 1 results can sometimes be an overreaction. I believe that Alabama will still be ranked around the top fifteen, while Florida State might find itself around the 16-18 range. Nonetheless, I am optimistic that we have another packed house at Doak Campbell Stadium to watch the Seminoles compete.
