Will Elijah Moore take the reins in the position battle with Lawayne McCoy injured?

Will Elijah Moore be a player to monitor for the Seminoles in 2025?

FSU FOOTBALL'S OFFENSE

Let's make no mistake about it... The Florida State Seminoles' offense in 2024 was abysmal. They could not get out of their way as they went on to average 15.2 points per game. The Seminoles made many changes to its offense in the offseason.

It was a move that head football coach Mike Norvell had to make as the Seminoles' fan base was frustrated with how last season transpired. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was acquired, where he is known as one of the best football minds in all of college football.

It also helps that quarterback transfer Thomas Castellanos was brought in to stabilize the offense and bring a different dimension that the Seminoles didn't have last year. Castellanos was awarded pass catchers via the transfer portal, such as Duce Robinson, Squirrel White, Gavin Blackwell, Randy Pittman Jr., and Markeston Douglas.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER RECEIVING OPTIONS?

The Seminoles will need more than just the options that I highlighted above. The coaching staff has raved about the abilities of Lawayne McCoy, Elijah Moore, Jayvan Boggs, and Tae'Shaun Gelsey.

Speaking of McCoy, a news update surfaced on Noles247's interview with head football coach Mike Norvell, where he was talking about the Jacksonville, Florida, fall camp sessions. You can click on the video here.

I would be remiss if I didn't give those guys over at Noles247 a shoutout. They do a tremendous job providing coverage for Florida State athletics, just like we strive to do.

If you skip to the 2:24 mark of the video, you will see sophomore wide receiver Lawayne McCoy have a brace on his right leg with crutches. It is very encouraging that Coach Norvell didn't mention anything about the injury in his media session, which seems to be pointing to the fact that the injury shouldn't be anything serious.

The coaching staff is high on the Miami, Florida, native, where he played exclusively at the wide receiver and punt returner positions. The injury should allow redshirt freshman pass catcher Elijah Moore more opportunities to be successful.

I want McCoy to be fully healthy, but I know that it could be beneficial for the 6'4" playmaker to get heavy reps to be more successful in the Garnet and Gold. Whatever the injury is for the youngster, I hope he has a speedy recovery and is back on the field in no time.
